Hans-Joachim Pflüger
Hans-Joachim Pflüger (born March 7, 1949 in Ulm ) is a German neurobiologist .
biography
Pflüger grew up in Neu-Ulm and attended the Kepler grammar school in Ulm until he graduated from high school in 1968. He then studied chemistry and biology at the universities of Stuttgart and Kaiserslautern , where he passed the state examination in 1974. He completed postgraduate studies in Kaiserslautern and received his doctorate in 1976. He was at the University of Cambridge via a postdoctoral fellowship from the DFG . From 1977 to 1980 he was a research assistant at the University of Bielefeld with Professor Peter Görner , from 1980 to 1987 at the University of Konstanz , where he received his habilitation in 1985. Since 1987, Pflüger has been Professor of Neurobiology and Functional Neuroanatomy at the Free University of Berlin .
Since 1991 Pflüger has been Adjunct Professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson , USA.
Research area
Pflüger heads an international working group. His research interests are in the entire neurobiology and neuroethology , his research focuses on the development of sensorimotor networks and the role of biogenic amines and the function of neuromodulatory cells in insects. In teaching, he represents a wide range of subjects from zoology and animal physiology .
