Hans-Joachim von Berenberg-Consbruch , born Hans-Joachim von Consbruch (born November 5, 1940 in Vienna ) is a German banker and patron in Hamburg .

He is the son of the businessman Hans-Dietrich Wilhelm Consbruch and Irmgard Else (called Irmela) Meyer. At the time of his birth in Austria, the family only called themselves “Consbruch” without “von” because of the Nobility Repeal Act . He later called himself Joachim von Consbruch in Germany until 1976. After the death of his father in Vienna in 1941, his mother married the banker Johann Heinrich Cornelius Hellmuth von Berenberg-Gossler in their second marriage in 1949 . August 10, 1976, the name change to "von Berenberg-Consbruch" was approved in Hamburg; thereby he combined his family name Consbruch with the name of the Hanseatic family Berenberg . He is not himself a descendant of the Berenberg family.

Von Berenberg-Consbruch studied law . From 1978 to 2005 he was personally liable partner of the Hamburg private bank Joh.Berenberg, Gossler & Co. KG and from 1990 to 2015 on the board of the Berenberg Bank Foundation from 1990 , a non-profit foundation for art and culture in Hamburg.

He is involved in various voluntary activities, for example he became honorary consul of the Principality of Monaco for Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Bremen and Lower Saxony. Currently he is u. a. Treasurer of the Freundeskreis Training of foreign officers at the command academy of the Bundeswehr eV , member of the board of trustees of the Übersee-Club , member of the Freundeskreis Elbphilharmonie + Laeiszhalle eV and hall sponsor of the Museum of Art and Industry Hamburg .
