Hans-Ludwig Günther

Hans-Ludwig Günther (born February 25, 1949 in Bochum ) is a German lawyer and former professor at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

Life

Günther was born on February 25, 1949 in Bochum as the son of the director of studies Hans Günther and his wife Liselotte in Bochum. After graduating from the Theodor-Körner-Gymnasium in 1967, he began studying law in Bochum , but later moved to Marburg , where he passed his first state examination in law in 1972. He returned to Bochum for his doctorate, which he successfully completed in 1975 under Günter Warda . A year later he passed his second state examination. Günther subsequently worked as a research assistant until 1981, and later as an academic adviser at the University of Trier . 1981 followed his habilitation at the University of Trier, with which he acquired the license to teach ( venia legendi ) for the subjects of criminal law and criminal procedure law .

In the same year 1981 Günther took up a professorship at the University of Bonn . Just three years later, he moved to the University of Tübingen to the chair of criminal law and criminal procedure law. In 1988/89 he was dean of the Tübingen law faculty. From 1990 to 1997 he also judged as a judge in the second main office at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court . His teaching activity in Tübingen was interrupted by a visiting professorship at the Kansai University in Osaka in 1992 and a secondment to the Technical University of Dresden in the summer semester of 1993. In 2002/03 he was again dean of the law faculty in Tübingen.

Günther retired in 2014. His successor in Tübingen was Bernd Heinrich .
