Hans-Martin Stäbler (born December 7, 1951 in Herbrechtingen ) is a German evangelical theologian and former general secretary of the Association of Christians in Business (CiW).

Life

Stäbler was born in Herbrechtingen near Heidenheim and grew up in Reutlingen . As a young man of 18 years old, he wanted to have discovered the importance of personal faith in Jesus Christ . This resulted in voluntary work in both youth and music work in the local evangelical parish. After completing his military service in Pfullendorf and Ulm, he began training in the field of high-voltage electrics and control electronics with the aim of becoming an electrical engineer. From 1973 he completed a theology degree at the Johanneum in Wuppertal, where he was ordained to the preaching service in 1976 . After that, he was regional youth warden for five years in a regional church community in Württemberg ( Old Pietist Community Association ) and then from 1981 to 1990 regional youth consultant in the Evangelical Youth Organization (EJW) and in the YMCA regional association in Württemberg. For ten years he volunteered on the board of directors of the Free Evangelical School in Reutlingen. His part-time training as a state-recognized educator, his journalistic traineeship and training at Evangeliumsrundfunk (ERF) in Wetzlar were further stations of professional development before he completed his second church training in 1986 in the field of youth work.

From 1990 to 2012 he was General Secretary of the YMCA Bavarian Association . During this time he introduced "Konfi-Castles" for confirmation groups at the YMCA Castle Wernfels and founded the missionary projects “Missiopoints”, in which an employee is sent to a location for three years to start or work on YMCA to liven up an existing one. Stäbler is co-initiator and editor of the membership magazine CVJM Life . He is also known locally as a committed Christian for the YMCA in his home town of Lauf and in the district. He is a member of the worldwide YMCA movement (Young Men's Christian Association) and a member of the general assembly of Evangeliumsrundfunks (ERF-Medien), the YMCA MissioCenter Berlin and the Johanneum Evangelist School. From 1991 to 2011, Stäbler was the managing director of "CVJM Bayern Reise + Service GmbH" and was the initiator and director of Israel holiday Bible schools (Bibel life). Stäbler initiated and accompanied international education and reconciliation projects in Israel, Rwanda, South Africa, Namibia and Chile, among others.

Stäbler held a number of honorary positions. He worked in the management group of the Christival youth congresses in Nuremberg in 1988 and Dresden in 1996 and is a member of the board of ProChrist . He was a deputy member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and, as a preacher , is responsible for preaching and administering the sacraments. From 1988 he carried out “Traumschiff-Reisen” and “Jesus-Boat-Reisen” together with ERF-Medien in order to enable “Holidays under God's Word” on the water. There are also a large number of group trips at home and abroad. A traineeship in the field of broadcast journalism brought him to ERF-Medien, where he has been a member of the association since 1990, has been a theological consultant and evangelist in travel services since 2012 and was honored in 2015 for 25 years of membership. In 2011 he founded the association “missionary on the move”, of which he is chairman and from 2014 to February 2017 he was general secretary of the Association of Christians in Business (CiW). As a supporter, he is one of the first signatories of the “Time to Get Up - An Impulse for the Future of the Church” initiative. Stäbler was also involved in the youth evangelization work group in Germany (AGJE) and in the coalition for evangelism in Germany ( Lausanne support group ). He is a member of the board of the Johanneum Evangelist School in Wuppertal, the main board of the German Evangelical Alliance (DEA), the board of the Hohe Rhön Guest House Association, the general assembly of “Gate to Life - Lifegate Rehabilitation eV” and the ecumenical support group of “Mit einer Mithaben for Europe ”.

As a sought-after speaker, he is on the road at many church services, camps and theme days and to lectures at home and abroad.

Honors

In September 2011, Stäbler was presented with the Golden World Federation Badge of the YMCA / YMCA by the President of the German YMCA Karl-Heinz Stengel . In 2014 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his work in the Christian Association of Young People (YMCA) in Bavaria. It was presented to him in Nuremberg by the Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann (politician, 1956) . “The expansion of the medieval Wernfels Castle into a large youth center in Middle Franconia was a brilliant act in youth politics, ” said the Minister of the Interior.

In 2016 he was honored by the Jewish State for his long-term commitment to Israel. At a ceremony in the Ministry of Tourism, the fact that the couple traveled with groups of visitors to the Holy Land even in difficult times was particularly appreciated, thereby demonstrating their friendship with Israel. Together with his wife Renate, he has been organizing and accompanying cruises, holiday Bible schools as well as choir and youth trips to the country since 1981 and supports reconciliation projects.

Private

Hans-Martin Stäbler has been married to Renate since 1976. The couple have five children and have lived in Lauf a since 1990 . d. Pegnitz near Nuremberg.
