Hans-Peter Rodenberg

Hans-Peter Rodenberg (* 1952 in Bremen ) is a German Americanist .

Life

He studied art history , philosophy and American studies at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig and the University of California at Los Angeles . In 1979 he passed the first state examination in art history and American Studies (TU Braunschweig and Academy of Fine Arts Braunschweig) with a thesis on "Street Murals in Los Angeles" from 1982, he was at the TU Braunschweig his doctorate with a thesis on the poetry of Allen Ginsberg , Gary Snyder , Bob Dylan , Leonard Cohen and Jim Morrison. The second state examination took place in Hamburg, in 1988 the habilitation at the University of Osnabrück on the image of the American Indian in American history and culture. He had lectureships at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig , the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Universities of Bremen and Hamburg . Since 1994 he has been professor of film, new media and American cultural studies at the University of Hamburg . From 1986 to 1994 he was an editor and filmmaker at NDR television in the culture department, and has been a freelance documentary director ever since. He was visiting professor at the Royal University of Phnom Penh - Dept. of Media and Communication, Phnom Penh / Cambodscha (2005, 2007, 2009), Academy of Theater and Cinema, Hanoi / Vietnam (2006, 2011), Academy of Journalism and Communication, Hanoi / Vietnam (2008, 2011, 2013). He was External Examiner Journalism: University of East London (2007–2011) and Middlesex University (2013–).
