Hans-Peter Vollbach

Hans-Peter Vollbach (born April 26, 1971 in Schlema ) is a German church lawyer and has been President of the Regional Church Office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony since October 11, 2019 .

Career

Vollbach grew up as the son of a pastor in Leipzig-Plagwitz. From 1987 to 1991 he studied at the University of Music in Leipzig and graduated as a graduate orchestra musician ( violoncello ). A year as a cellist at the Landestheater Altenburg followed. Then Vollbach attended the second level of education at the Leipzig Robert-Schumann-Gymnasium . He then studied law at the Universities of Leipzig and Jena . He passed his first state examination in law in 2000, followed by his second examination in 2002. After working for a law firm, Vollbach became legal advisor and assistant to the managing director of the Provincial Saxon Cooperative of the Order of St. John in Gardelegen, Saxony-Anhalt .

From 2004 to 2006 Vollbach was a consultant for service, salary and pension law in the Saxon regional church office. He then took over the management of the legal department in the regional church office of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church in Braunschweig . As an Oberlandeskirchenrat he represented the regional church office in the local church government.

The Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Saxony elected Vollbach on January 26, 2019 as the successor to Johannes Kimme . Vollbach was inducted into his new office on October 11, 2019 in the Dreikönigskirche in Dresden .
