Johannes Kimme

Johannes Kimme (born December 17, 1953 in Leipzig ) is a German lawyer and was President of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Office of Saxony from 2010 to 2019 .

Life

Kimme is the eleventh and youngest child of the Leipzig pastor and director of the Evangelical Lutheran Mission in Leipzig , August Kimme . He was drafted as a construction soldier for conscientious objection and later not admitted to university. He trained as a skilled worker for data processing and became a programmer at VEB Energiekombinat West in Leipzig. On November 9, 1975, he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany, caught up with his school leaving examination and studied law at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 1977 to 1982. He completed his three-year legal traineeship in Mainz and Bonn in 1986 with the qualification for judicial office. Kimme also worked from 1984 to 1988 as a research assistant at the University of Mainz, who earned him a doctorate from a doctoral thesis on "Representative Democracy". iur. PhD.

Then he was a judge at the Wiesbaden Administrative Court . From there he was seconded to the Federal Ministry of Justice and worked in 1990 on the Joint Declaration of the Governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic on the settlement of open property issues of June 15, 1990. This political declaration of intent was part of the Unification Treaty for later legislation binding.

From 1990 to 2008 Johannes Kimme was President of the Saxon State Office for the settlement of open property issues in Dresden. At the instigation of Kurt Biedenkopf , as a deputy administrative judge , he initially led this state office on a provisional basis and from July 1, 1992 finally as president. In 2009 he became Vice President of the Leipzig Regional Office and thus permanent representative of President Walter Christian Steinbach .

Johannes Kimme was elected President of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Office of Saxony on November 14, 2009 in Dresden. As a candidate for the church leadership, he received the required two-thirds majority of the regional synodals. On January 16, 2010, he was introduced to the office in a festive service.

The president of the regional church office is the chairman of the ten-member board of the regional church office, oversees its members, is the superior of the approximately 100 employees of the regional church office and is a member of the church leadership. He legally represents the regional church externally. His term of office lasts 12 years, and by virtue of his office he is also the born curator of the Frauenkirche Dresden Foundation .

The MDR honored in 2010 in his web site "The countries Puzzle: 1990 - Faces of building" the achievements Kimmes and eleven other persons in the founding of the Free State of Saxony .
