Hans-Rudolf Schalcher

Hans-Rudolf Schalcher (* 12. July 1944 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss civil engineer and emeritus professor at the ETH Zurich .

Life

Schalcher studied civil engineering at the ETH Zurich from 1963 to 1968 . After working for the engineering company Basler & Hofmann in Zurich , he was a research assistant at the ETHZ from 1973 to 1979. In 1979 he was at Angelo Pozzi and Ernst Brem with a thesis on the communication system in the construction process to Dr. sc. techn. PhD . Until 1984 he ran the engineering office Schalcher & Partner in Zurich, from 1985 the engineering office Dr. HR Schalcher.

1990 was Schalcher a call to the professor for planning and management in the construction industry at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ). He was the founder and head of the Center for Integrated Planning in Civil Engineering at ETH Zurich (ZIPBau) (1993–2006) and head of the Department of Construction, Environment and Geomatics at ETH Zurich (1995–2005). In 2009 he retired .

Act

Schalcher's work focuses on systems engineering , project and company management, as well as sustainable construction and infrastructure management . Schalcher played a key role in the implementation of facility management and real estate management in Switzerland.

He holds numerous consulting mandates, including for the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) and the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction , of which he is a member of the Board of Trustees, as well as a member of the Technical Competence Center (TCC) at Holcim . Schalcher is a member of the steering committee of the National Research Program NRP 54 Sustainable Settlement Development .

In 1996 he was the initiator of the Zurich-based consultancy pom + , a spin-off from ETH Zurich. He was its Chairman of the Board of Directors.
