The Forollhogna (also Forolhogna ) is a 1332 moh. high mountain in Norway . It is the highest mountain in Forollhogna National Park and belongs to the municipalities of Os , Midtre Gauldal and Holtålen in the provinces of Innlandet and Trøndelag .

The Forollhogna is located in the Trondheimsfeltet region, which is dominated by rock types from the Silurian and part of the Scandinavian Mountains . The mountain itself is made of phyllite and mica schist . In principle, this calcareous soil is ideal for lush vegetation, but due to the climatic conditions only mosses , lichens and some high-alpine plants grow on the mountain top . A pasture landscape forms in lower elevations .
The notch height of the mountain is 639 m - 700 m. The dominance to the next higher mountain, the Håmmålsfjellet , is 37.25 km. East of the mountain, to just under 1000 moh. is the Forollsjøen . The Forollhogna gave its name to the Forollhogna National Park and is also visible from afar due to its distinctive summit shape.
