Hans-Ulrich Ernst (born January 22, 1933 in Zurich ; † March 19, 2019 in Bern ; authorized to reside in the civic communities of Bern and Aarau ) was a Swiss lawyer , civil servant and brigadier . He was a member of the BGB / SVP .

Life

Hans-Ulrich Ernst was the son of the military and strategic pioneer Alfred Ernst . He studied at the University of Bern Law and assisted in Washington, DC , at Georgetown University . He then worked as a clerk at the High Court of the Canton of Bern and from 1960 practiced as a lawyer .

From 1963 to 1979 he worked in the Federal Department of Finance and from 1979 to 1996 he was Secretary General of the Federal Military Department , where he “played a key role in drafting the ' Army 95 ' and the ' Army XXI '”.

He commanded the 15th Infantry Regiment and then the 11th Border Brigade.
