Hans-Werner Frömmel (born July 5, 1942 in Linz ) is an Austrian building contractor , tourism entrepreneur and Chamber of Commerce official .

Life

Hans-Werner Frömmel attended elementary school in Wolfsegg am Hausruck , Köflach and Bad Gleichenberg . He attended the Bundesrealgymnasium in Mariengasse in Graz and then from 1956 to 1961 the HTBLVA Graz-Ortweinschule , where he graduated.

In 1961 he joined the construction company Ing.Wilhelm Mandlbauer GmbH & Co KG , his stepfather's company , as a construction technician . After serving in the armed forces (1962) and a professional interim position as a site manager in Innsbruck (1963–1964), Frömmel returned to the family business in 1964. In 1967 he received individual power of attorney ; In 1977 he became a partner and finally took over the company in 1984. In 2008 the company was converted into a stock corporation and Hans-Werner Frömmel became Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Mandlbauer AG.

In 2014 he passed on his Mandlbauer company shares within the family and has since then concentrated on his numerous tourism projects and his duties as the Federal Guild Master of the Federal Construction Guild. He is also the owner of MB Projektbau GmbH, Mandlbauer ABS, Mandlbauer Rea, Süd Ost BaugesmbH and the advertising agency CREATIVE .

Hans-Werner Frömmel is married and lives in Styria .

Activity as an entrepreneur

Hans-Werner Frömmel transformed the family company Mandlbauer into a stock corporation with around 500 employees and an annual turnover of over 100 million euros. The group of companies currently (as of July 2012) comprises around 50 companies in the construction and tourism sector.

In tourism Hans-Werner Frömmel is also active. His projects included the development, construction, participation and, in some cases, the operation of hotels, especially thermal spa hotels in Bad Radkersburg , Bad Gleichenberg , Bad Mitterndorf , Bad Loipersdorf and Bad Elster / Saxony . Frömmel was responsible for the structural implementation of major projects, including the construction of the University of Applied Sciences in Bad Gleichenberg and the Steirerhof Wellness Hotel in Bad Waltersdorf . Frommel's hotel projects on Lake Wörthersee include Werzer's Hotel Resort in Pörtschach , Werzer's Seehotel Wallerwirt and Werzer's Hotel in Velden am Wörthersee .

Positions and functions

Frommel was District Supervisor for Construction from 1980 to 2000. Since 1990 he has been a member of the Styrian State Guild Committee. From 1995 to 2000 he was first deputy state guild master for the Styrian construction industry. Since 2000 he has been chairman of the social policy committee of the Federal Construction Guild. From 2000 to 2008 he was state guild master of the state construction guild of Styria. From 2000 to 2008 he was also the deputy federal guild master. In 2008 he became Federal Guild Master of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ). In 2010 and 2015 he was elected as Federal Guild Master for a further five years. This makes him the top representative of the building trade in Austria. Frommel also held or still has the following functions at the construction workers' leave and severance pay fund (BUAK, employee supply institution for the construction industry): BUAK advisory board member (2004–2009), BUAK committee member (since 2004), BUAK board member (since 2007), BUAK vice chairman (2011–2012) and BUAK chairman (since 2012).

Act

In the area of social policy , Hans-Werner Frömmel was involved in the reform of construction workers' vacation law and its alignment with general vacation law, as well as in combating the infiltration of the construction industry by "swindles" and the prevention of social fraud and wage dumping . Furthermore, he implemented a new, contemporary service and salary order for BUAK. He supported initiatives such as client liability, registration before starting work and the “BAUfair!” Campaign. The bridging allowance for construction workers, which was launched in 2013, is considered a milestone in his career as an official.

In the education sector, Frömmel has been committed to the introduction of technical college courses in the construction industry. In 2003 he was involved in the introduction of the university-level postgraduate course “Project Management Construction” in Styria and subsequently, as Federal Guild Master in 2011, supported the establishment of the Master’s course “Life Cycle Management Construction” at Danube University Krems . In 2012, Frommel was awarded the title of "Honorary Senator" from the Danube University Krems for his commitment in the field of in-service training. He also contributed to the development of the Austrian training yards and their expansion into nationwide building academies.

In the field of skilled worker training, on the initiative of Frömmel u. a. Introduced an apprentice bonus for training companies in the amount of 1,650 euros per apprentice and per year.

Frömmel advocated the earmarking of state housing subsidies , since state subsidies “prevent ghetto formation and ensure social peace”. Together with the construction social partners, he developed a concept for a housing offensive, which the federal government took up in February 2015. Frommel also supported the promotion of ecological and energy-saving construction methods and the introduction of state funding for “thermal building renovation”. Frömmel advocates the "senior-friendly renovation" of living space, for which he presented detailed concepts in his lectures. In 2014 Frömmel founded the Building Research Competence Center in Salzburg. Under his leadership, after long negotiations with Austrian Standards International , the Federal Construction Guild succeeded in concluding a nationwide package of standards at the beginning of 2015, thereby giving all member companies free access to standards.

As a state guild master, he was one of the initiators of the winter construction offensive, a model to combat winter unemployment with a promotional leverage of 1:10.
