Hans-Werner Koch (* 1948 ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1997 to 2009 he was the full-time mayor of the city of Herdecke .

Life

In 1966 Koch began his training at the city of Herdecke and worked there continuously until his retirement in 2009. On October 7, 1997, he succeeded Hugo Knauer (SPD), who had been mayor for 33 years, full-time mayor of the city of Herdecke, at that time still under an SPD sole government. He kept his office under a coalition between the SPD and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen from autumn 1999 to April 2006. In the 2004 local elections , he was confirmed with 51 percent of the votes in the first ballot, and he did not run for the 2009 local elections . His successor is the non-party Katja Strauss-Köster , who ran as a joint candidate for the CDU , the Greens and the FDP .

Investigations for breach of trust

In the summer of 2010 it became known that with Koch's knowledge, contributions for road construction measures had not been settled with residents for years . The city was still able to collect fee notices for around 500,000 euros, but the city of Herdecke finally lost 200,000 euros. In June 2013, the city of Herdecke therefore brought an action for damages . The proceedings were temporarily suspended pending a decision against Koch for breach of trust that began in 2015. The criminal proceedings were set against a fine and the city of Herdecke waived an appeal.
