Hans Achinger

Hans Achinger (born October 5, 1899 in Elberfeld , † July 6, 1981 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German economist and social scientist .

Life

Hans Achinger was born on October 5, 1899 in Elberfeld. After studying economics in Cologne, Berlin and Frankfurt, Achinger completed his doctorate and habilitation . After 1923 he was managing director of the Central Office for Private Welfare, 1937–1945 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Frankfurt am Main and since 1952 professor at the University of Frankfurt . He became known in 1958 with social policy as social policy .

A few years earlier, in 1955, he and the scientists Joseph Höffner , Hans Muthesius and Ludwig Neundörfer had drafted the so-called Rothenfels memorandum on the “Reorganization of Social Services” on behalf of Konrad Adenauer . It developed practical proposals for social reform. In 1969 he was awarded the plaque of the city of Frankfurt, which is given to people who have contributed to increasing the city's reputation.
