Hans Bachofner

Hans Bachofner (born August 15, 1931 in Winterthur ; † September 29, 2012 ; legal resident in Fehraltorf ) was a Swiss lawyer and professional officer .

Bachofner studied law, economics and political science in Cologne and Paris and received his doctorate in law from the University of Zurich in 1958 . From 1959 he served as a professional officer in the infantry and medical troops of the Swiss Army .

Bachofner held management positions in the military administration from 1972 and was, among other things, commander of Mountain Infantry Regiment 37 and Chief of Staff of Mountain Division 12 . From 1975 to 1976 he was HR director at Georg Fischer AG . In 1982 he took over the command of the central schools of the army as a division general, and in 1986 the general staff courses. In his last position, Bachofner headed the operational training department of the army from 1989 to 1990.

In terms of military expertise, Bachofner appeared as editor-in-chief of the Allgemeine Schweizerische Militärzeitschrift and as the initiator of security seminars. In the media he specifically criticized the army reforms from 1990 and the army's missions abroad, which gave him a name among other national conservative circles.
