Hans Becker (politician, 1877)

Hans Becker (born December 11, 1877 in Hanover , † April 28, 1947 in Minden ) was a German politician ( DVP ) at the time of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic . From 1911 to 1923 he was Lord Mayor of the city of Minden in Westphalia .

Life

Hans Becker studied law and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. After he had previously been alderman and second deputy of the Lord Mayor Johannes Johansen , he succeeded him on March 1, 1911. Becker belonged to the (DVP) in the Weimar Republic. His successor on March 2, 1923 was the previous 2nd Mayor Carl Dieckmann ( DDP ). Becker made particular contributions to founding the Weserbund , in which he was seen as the driving force. The founding meeting was on December 15, 1921 in the "Weserklause" society house in Minden.

1911–1918 he belonged to the Prussian manor house . From 1911 to 1932 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for the constituency of Minden .

After his resignation as mayor, Hans Becker stayed with his wife Emmy in Minden until his death in 1947.
