Hans Borer
Hans Borer (born November 23, 1924 in Olten ; † August 29, 2002 in Solothurn ) was a Swiss sculptor .
Life
After an apprenticeship as a sculptor with Willi Schibler in Olten, Borer studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva , the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Art Academy of Florence . After studying in Italy , Austria , Germany and the South of France from 1950 to 1953, Hans Borer returned to the Canton of Solothurn . Since 1952 he worked as a freelance sculptor. In 1966 he bought a farmhouse in Lohn , where he has lived ever since.
Various sculptures by Hans Borer can be found in public spaces in the canton of Solothurn , such as the Fliegerdenkmal (1968) in Solothurn or the new sculpture placed on the north side of the Franciscan Church in 2019, which freely depicts the “last Franciscan” in Solothurn, Franz Louis Studer , represents and numerous fountains .
