Hans Borgen

Hans Borgen (born September 24, 1908 in Fet ; † September 12, 1983 in Nord-Odal ) was a Norwegian farmer and politician of the Senterpartiet (Sp), which was still called Bondepartiet until 1959 . In 1963 he was his country's Minister of Agriculture.

Life

From 1927 to 1928 Borgen attended an agricultural school. Between 1933 and 1935 he was a student at the Norwegian School of Agriculture. He completed his business studies in 1938. From 1940 to 1945 he worked as a clerk in the Forsyningsdepartementet , the ministry responsible for managing the state of crisis after the outbreak of war. In 1945 he took over his parents' farm, which he managed until 1974.

From 1947 to 1959, Borgen was a member of Fet's local parliament. Between 1947 and 1950 and again from 1955 to 1958 he was chairman of his party in what was then Akershus province . From 1957 to 1978 he was chairman of the Norske Melkeprodusenters Landsforbund , the national association of Norwegian milk producers. He headed the Landbrukets Sentralforbund , the central association for agriculture, from 1957 to 1979.

Borgen represented Akershus in the national parliament, the Storting , from 1950 to 1969 . From 1965 to 1969 he was the Vice President of Odelsting . On August 28, 1963, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture in the Korvald government. He held the office until the resignation of the government on September 25, 1963.
