Hans Demmel (born March 30, 1956 in Wagrain ) is a German journalist and media manager . From 2007 to February 2019 he was managing director of n-tv and is chairman of the board of VAUNET (formerly VPRT), the association of private media in Berlin.

Live and act

Hans Demmel grew up in Rosenheim and graduated from the Ignaz-Günter-Gymnasium there . His career began in 1976 with an internship at the Upper Bavarian Volksblatt . In 1979 he switched to Bayerischer Fernsehen as a freelancer , where he worked for various editorial offices ( Rundschau , Tagesschau , Abendschau and Zeitspiegel).

From 1990 to 1994 Demmel worked for SAT.1 before moving to RTL . From 1995 to 1998 he taught at the same time as a lecturer at the Bavarian Academy for Television in Munich .

From 2002 to 2005 he was editor-in-chief and a member of VOX and returned to Mediengruppe RTL in 2006 as division manager . From 2007 to February 2019 he was managing director of the news channel n-tv, which belongs to Mediengruppe RTL, and was a member of the management team of Mediengruppe RTL.

Since September 2016, Hans Demmel has been CEO of the private broadcasting association VAUNET (formerly VPRT).

He is also involved in various jury activities, including at CNN Journalist of the Year, Media Prize of the German Association of SMEs, CMO of the year ( Serviceplan ), Documentary Film Prize of the SOS Children's Villages and at the Munich Documentary Film Festival.
