Hans Detlev Henningsen
Hans Detlev Henningsen (born April 25, 1893 in Glückstadt , Schleswig-Holstein, † May 18, 1980 in Munich ) was a German painter .
Life
After attending grammar school, he was a painting student in Hamburg from 1913 to 1914 with Franz Nölken and Fritz Friedrichs . In the First World War he served as a soldier from 1914 to 1916 and suffered serious wounds in Flanders.
From 1916 to 1924 Henningsen studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . From 1922 to 1923 he exhibited for the first time in the modern gallery Heinrich Thannhauser in Munich. In 1924 he went on a study trip to France and Spain , made possible by scholarships from the city of Munich and the art academy.
In 1929 he became a member of the Munich Secession and took part in the exhibition of the Berlin Secession in the Prussian Academy of the Arts .
After a house search and ostracism in 1933 and brief Gestapo imprisonment in 1936, Henningsen retired to the countryside ( Gaden , Rupertiwinkel ). In 1945 he fled before being sent to the Volkssturm .
In the post-war years he joined the Neue Gruppe München and was involved in several exhibitions at the Haus der Kunst . He traveled to Mallorca and the Riviera and was friends with Raimund Geiger and Hermann Bruck , Hugo von Habermann , Jakob Spaeth and Hugo Tröndle .
