Hans Dyckerhoff

Hans Dyckerhoff (born May 25, 1899 in Wiesbaden-Biebrich , † June 22, 1969 in Heidelberg ) was a German industrialist.

Life

Dyckerhoff came from an important Wiesbaden entrepreneurial family. He was born as the son of the factory owner and Commerce Councilor Karl Dyckerhoff and his wife Lucie, nee. Albert. After graduating from secondary school Riehlschule in Biebrich (1917), he began his military service in a hussar regiment and came to the western front. In 1919 he was retired from the military as a lieutenant in the reserve. He initially began studying economics in Cologne, but soon switched to the commercial college in Munich, where he became a member of the Corps Franconia . In 1921 he passed the examination to become a business graduate. In the same year he took part in the fighting in Upper Silesia as a free corps fighter. After graduating as Dr. rer. pole. in Würzburg (1922) he completed his commercial training in Hamburg, the Netherlands, Chile and Argentina, before he joined his father's Portland cement factory Dyckerhoff & Sons in Mainz-Amöneburg in 1927. He received power of attorney in 1929 and, after being converted into a stock corporation, became a member of the management board in 1936.

During the Second World War Dyckerhoff was drafted back into military service as a reserve officer. During the French campaign he was employed in the staff of a reconnaissance department, was then temporarily placed in the UK and finally came to North Africa as an adjutant of a tank reconnaissance department. In 1943 he became an American prisoner of war, from which he was released in 1946. After returning home, he returned to his previous position. In 1966 he moved to the company's supervisory board.

Hans Dyckerhoff was involved in various economic organizations. From 1954 to 1967 he was President, most recently Honorary President of the Wiesbaden Chamber of Commerce and Industry , member of the Advisory Committee of the Mining Union and the Economic Advisory Board of the Hessian state government. He held supervisory board mandates at Kalle AG in Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Berlinische Lebensversicherungs AG and Dresdner Bank AG (Frankfurt am Main).
