Hans Fischer (born May 8, 1905 in Meisterschwanden ; † January 4, 1942 in Itingen ; reformed , resident in Meisterschwanden) was a Swiss politician ( BGB ).

Life and education

Hans Fischer was born on May 8, 1905 in Meisterschwanden as the son of the farmer Hans Fischer senior and Emma Urech from Hallwil . After graduating from the Mont Fleury institute near Grandson and the agricultural school in Brugg , Fischer began studying agronomy at the ETH Zurich , which he obtained with the academic degree of Dipl.-Ing. agr. graduated. As a result, Fischer worked as a trainee at the Wädenswil research institute , then as an agriculture teacher.

Hans Fischer married Fanny nee Lindemann from Fahrwangen in 1932 . He died on January 4, 1942 at the age of only 36 in Itingen.

Political activity

Fischer initially headed the cantonal fruit growing advisory center in Baselland between 1930 and 1939. In this role, by promoting modern cultivation methods, he brought about an upswing in fruit production in the canton of Basel-Landschaft . In 1939 Fischer, a member of the farmers, trade and citizens' party, was elected to the government council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft, to which he belonged until his death , after a tough election campaign, supported by the left-wing parties . There he was in charge of the finance and military department. After the outbreak of the Second World War , Fischer initiated a support campaign for soldiers and civilians. In addition, he was a member of the bank council of the Kantonalbank Baselland , where he campaigned for the debt relief of farmers. At the party political level, Fischer was seen as a mediator.
