Hans Genehr (* 1874 in Breslau , Province of Silesia ; † 1924 there ) was a German landscape painter and graphic artist .

Life

In oil , watercolor and gouache he created representations of the flat and mountainous landscapes in the vicinity of his hometown and in the Giant Mountains . Initially very melancholy, it wasn't until 1910 that his work became more colorful . Many of his cityscapes were later used as motifs for postcards. His pictures are clearly influenced by his teacher Carl Ernst Morgenstern , Christian Morgenstern's father .

Genehr attended the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau from 1884 to 1892 and then studied painting under Carl Ernst Morgenstern at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts .

From 1900 he exhibited his works in his hometown. In 1913 his pictures were shown in the exhibition of works by Silesian artists in Wroclaw.

Genehr was a member of the board of the " Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft ".
