Hans Germandi

Johannes ("Hans") Germandi (* December 1925 in Kassel ; † August 6, 2014 there ) was a German photographer .

Career

During the Second World War , Johannes Germandi was an ensign at sea . On a home vacation shortly after the destruction of Kassel , he photographed the consequences of the bombing raid on the city. After the Second World War he looked through the image material "about the old Kassel" and created an image archive over the years, which he made available to the University Library of Kassel in 2011 , which digitized it and published it online. This archive also includes the slide presentations he created and presented in the Kassel dialect .

Johannes Germandi had been married to Gretl Germandi since 1951 and had two sons. His son Karl-Heinz, now a pensioner himself, has followed in his father's footsteps and has photography, with a focus on nature photography , as a hobby.
