Hans H. Staub
Hans Heinrich Staub (born January 20, 1908 in Wald , † December 21, 1980 in Zurich ; entitled to live in Oberrieden ) was a Swiss nuclear physicist .
Life
Staub studied physics at the ETH Zurich , where he also received his doctorate and then worked as an assistant from 1931 to 1937. In 1937 he came to the California Institute of Technology . From the winter semester 1938/39 he was a full professor at Stanford University . From 1942 to 1946 he worked on the Manhattan Project to develop and build an atomic bomb. At that time he was a friend and colleague of Nobel Prize winner Wolfgang Pauli . In the winter semester of 1949/50 he moved to the University of Zurich as a full professor . In the summer semester of 1973 he became an honorary professor there .
In 1944 he became a Fellow of the American Physical Society .
