Hans Hofer (politician, 1913)

Hans Hofer (born September 28, 1913 in Bannwil ; † March 4, 1997 in Flawil ), reformed , entitled to live in Bannwil, was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

Life

Hans Hofer, son of the farmer Fritz Hofer, attended primary school in Bannwil, then the Waldhof Agricultural School in Langenthal , followed by the Humboldtianum private school in Bern , before studying agronomy at ETH Zurich , which he acquired in 1939 the academic degree of Dipl. Ing. Agr. ETH. completed. In addition, Hofer obtained his master's degree as a farmer around 1950.

Hans Hofer began his professional career in 1939 as an employee at the agricultural production cadastre of the Federal War Food Office , in 1941 he switched to the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein as an agricultural advisor , in 1943 he took on a teaching position at the cantonal agricultural school in Flawil, and in 1958 he was appointed director of the Association of Agricultural Cooperatives St. Gallen and neighboring areas , he was retired in 1981. Hofer, who served in the Swiss Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel , was married to Lore, the daughter of the secondary school teacher Emil Stark. He died in 1997 at the age of 83 in Flawil.

Hofer, who joined the Liberal Democratic Party, was elected to the National Council in 1967 , to which he belonged until 1975. His political commitment was particularly focused on research and training in agriculture.
