Hans Jörg Neumann

Hans Jörg Neumann (born March 28, 1956 in Berlin ) is a German diplomat and has been consul general in Breslau since September 2018 . From 2011 to 2015 he was Ambassador to Benin and from 2015 to 2018 Consul General in Los Angeles .

Life

After graduating from high school , Neumann completed his military service in the armed forces between 1975 and 1976 and then began studying law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and the University of Lausanne . After the first state examination in law in 1982, he was in the legal preparatory service until 1986, during which time he completed an administrative internship at the ENA in Paris from 1983 to 1984 and finally passed the second state examination in 1986.

He then joined the Foreign Service in 1987 and, after completing his career examination, was employed between 1988 and 1989 as a consultant in the legal department of the Foreign Office in Bonn , before he was first secretary in the economic department of the embassy in Egypt until 1991 . He then remained as a consul at the embassy in Egypt and, after working from 1993 to 1995 as a consultant in the department for the Maghreb countries in the Foreign Office, was consul at the embassy in the Czech Republic between 1995 and 1998 .

After his return he became Deputy Head of Division in 1998 and then Head of Division for International Contracts, Social Law and Labor Law in the Foreign Office in March 2001. After that, Neumann was Counselor at the Embassy in the USA from 2001 to 2005 and subsequently Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Romania , before he was inspector at the Foreign Office between 2008 and 2011.

From September 2011 to July 2015, Hans Jörg Neumann was ambassador to Benin and thus successor to Ludwig Linden .

From July 2015 he was German Consul General in Los Angeles. In September 2018, he moved to the Consulate General in Wroclaw in the same position.

Hans Jörg Neumann has three children.
