Hans Jakob Kruse

Hans Jakob Kruse (* 9. October 1929 in Hohenhorst ; † 4. February 2014 in Hamburg ) was a German manager , politicians of the CDU and a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life and politics

After graduating from Ludwig-Meyn-Schule in Uetersen in 1950 , Kruse completed a commercial apprenticeship as a ship broker at EA Mundy in Hamburg. From 1964 to 1967 he was a representative for HAPAG and North German Lloyd in Australia and Canada. From 1973 to 1993 he was the spokesman for the board of Hapag-Lloyd . He was on the advisory board of the supervisory board until his death. He was appointed to the board in 1969 and played a key role in the merger of Hapag and Norddeutschem Lloyd, which took place on September 1, 1970. During his time on the board, Hapag Lloyd became a leading container shipping company . He also expanded the tourism sector, in particular the charter airline .

From October 6, 1993 until the 2001 general election , he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament. He sat there for his group as chairman of the economic committee.

Kruse was a member of the Presidium of the International Chamber of Commerce , the Presidium of the East Asian Association and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Asian Studies .
