Hans Kubis

Hans Kubis (born June 19, 1924 in Neisse / Upper Silesia; † February 23, 1991 in Bruchsal ) was a lieutenant general in the Bundeswehr .

Life and military background

Hans Kubis joined the Wehrmacht at the age of 17 . He was trained in the infantry and fell in 1945 as a company commander and adjutant in the Mechanized Infantry Regiment 13 in Soviet captivity .

After returning home from captivity, Kubis worked in the mining industry. In 1952 he joined the Federal Border Police and in 1956 transferred to the Bundeswehr with the rank of captain .

In addition to various staff assignments, Kubis held troop commands as commander of the 284 tank battalion in Neuburg adDonau , commander of the 26th airborne brigade in Saarlouis and commander of the 1st airborne division in Bruchsal.

Promoted to lieutenant general, he was head of the personnel department in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) from 1982 to 1984 . In this position he was closely involved in the Kießling affair . On September 30, 1984, he retired from active service in the Bundeswehr.

Kubis was the father of two sons in his first marriage. After his divorce, he remarried.
