Hans Lacher
Hans Lacher (born August 8, 1912 in Basel ; † November 11, 2003 ibid., Switzerland ; entitled to live in Basel and Einsiedeln ) was a Swiss diplomat and lawyer .
Life
Hans Lacher was born as the son of Agatho and Bertha Luise (née Zehme) in Basel and graduated from high school in his hometown. He then studied law at the Universities of Basel and Paris and was admitted to the bar in Basel . In 1936 he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD .
After working as an independent lawyer, he joined the Federal Political Department in 1941 . Together with Walter Stucki , he took part in the difficult negotiations on the Washington Agreement in 1946 . From 1948 to 1954 he was the first legation secretary at the Swiss embassy in Washington . From 1954 to 1960, Lacher was head of the Swiss delegation in Berlin as a member of the Legation . From 1961–1963 he worked as the Swiss ambassador to the Philippines . From 1963 to 1968 he was Consul General in New York . From December 5, 1968, he succeeded Max Troendle as ambassador in divided Berlin. There he was caught up in the tensions and difficulties of the Cold War and tried to mediate between East and West. At the end of 1974 he left the diplomatic service.
Hans Lacher was married to Daisy Bubeck.
