Life and work

Born in Londorf, he started his service as a police sergeant in the Hessian police at the age of 16 . In 1972 he became chief sergeant in Frankfurt am Main . At the age of 23, he moved to Alsfeld as a police commissioner from 1976 and became a service group leader. In 1979 he finally moved to the police headquarters in Giessen , where he became the police chief on duty.

From 1986 Langecker studied for two years at the German Police University in Münster / Westphalia. He then worked as a police officer on duty in Frankfurt and later head of the police in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district . After the fall of the Berlin Wall , he was given the task of restructuring the former People's Police in several districts in Thuringia . Three years later he returned to Hessen to head the riot police in Lich . Until 2000, Langecker was primarily responsible for large-scale situations as police chief, such as Castor transports , world economic and EU summits.

In 2009 he became president of the Hessian riot police. He retired in December 2012. His appointment to this service by the then Interior Minister Volker Bouffier occupied an investigative committee in the state parliament

Hans Langecker is married and has two sons. He lives in Londorf.

Committee of Inquiry into the "Police Chief Affair"

In the spring of 2010, the "UNA 18/2" investigative committee of the Hessian state parliament began its work under the leadership of the coalition parties CDU and FDP . It met under the chairmanship of the CDU member Peter Beuth . The committee should clarify whether there were any deficiencies in the advertisement for the replacement of the head post in the Hessian riot police. Because Prime Minister Volker Bouffier appointed Langecker to the post in July 2009 without a prior selection process, the Hesse SPD demanded Bouffier's resignation in March 2010. A competitor for the office had previously sued the Hessian Administrative Court against Bouffier's approach and won the right.

The committee of inquiry ended its work in November 2012 with no mutual result. The CDU and FDP considered the allegations refuted and announced that they would better document selection procedures in the future.
