Hans Paeschke
Hans Karl Hermann Paeschke (born September 30, 1911 in Berlin ; † October 5, 1991 in Munich ) was a German journalist .
Life
Paeschke studied law in Berlin , Geneva and Paris from 1930 to 1936 ; he also studied philosophy and literature. Between 1932 and 1934 he worked as secretary of the "Franco-German Society"; he boasted of his contacts with Paul Valéry and André Gide . From 1936 he published film and literary reviews as well as essays, especially in the weekly “Deutsche Zukunft” under Fritz Klein . From 1939 to 1944 he was editor-in-chief of the magazine “ Die Neue Rundschau ” published by Peter Suhrkamp . Paeschke had connections to the resistance against National Socialism .
In 1946/47, Paeschke and the former top Nazi cultural functionary Gerhard Heller in Baden-Baden published the magazine “Lancelot. The messenger from France ”. The magazine included a publishing house of the same name based in Neuwied , in which Paeschke, as a translator, published a brochure entitled “ Descartes 1649 - Aragon 1946. The Birth of Peace” in 1949 . Since 1947 he was a member of the executive committee of the "Südwestdeutscher Kulturring". In 1947 he founded the magazine Merkur with Joachim Moras at the headquarters of the military administration of the French zone in Baden-Baden , which he was editor-in-chief until 1978.

Paeschke was married to Taissia Alexandrowna, Freiherrin von Falz-Fein since 1946 (1911 Nice - 1988 Munich ).
