Hans Peter Klein (* 1951 ) is a German biologist and teaches didactics of the life sciences at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

From 1977 to 2001 he taught as a high school teacher in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 2001, Klein was appointed to the chair for didactics of the life sciences at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. This deals with the knowledge transfer of life science findings to the public and the school education sector.

Since 2006 he has been President of the Society for Didactics of Biosciences and was a co-founder of the Society for Education and Knowledge eV , which was founded in Cologne in 2010 and is also the managing director.

In his popular science book From Chipmunk to Pinstripe, he takes a critical look at PISA and the Bologna Process and their effects on the education system. He sees the reduction in the demands placed on schoolchildren and students as a decrease in their education. Politicians no longer want to ask the question "why?" And risk professional and financial disadvantages as a critic.

Quoting Andreas Schleicher , " Google knows everything", he also points out the increasing tendency for schoolchildren and students to acquire their knowledge without reflection on the Internet. He criticizes the fact that this would mean that large corporations would decide "what we have to know and what not". Parts of Wikipedia would meanwhile become a control instrument for certain interest groups to “declare controversial ideas as an objective body of knowledge or to advertise their own cause. In addition, there is a fight raged by the »supervisors« of certain categories of Wikipedia entries, who, like representatives of feminist gender research , closely monitor all activities and do everything to block critical contributions that they do not like from the outset with their veto - often with great success. "

In the Neue Zürcher Zeitung he demanded, following the example of Norway , that the funds for gender research financed by tax money in Germany should be canceled. He assumed that Ulrich Kutschera was invited as the inaugural speaker at the Philipps University of Marburg , which, due to his criticism of gender studies , could not guarantee his security. This would be "an outrageous process at a German university."

In autumn 2018, Klein was nominated by the Alternative for Germany party for the study commission "Vocational training in the digital world of work". The neuroscientist Manfred Spitzer had rejected this shortly before.
