Hans Petermandl

Hans Petermandl (born January 26, 1933 in Linz ) is an Austrian pianist .

Life

Petermandl studied piano at the Vienna Music Academy with Bruno Seidlhofer and won the Bösendorfer Prize in 1958 . He taught at the Music Academy from 1960 and led a piano class from 1971 to 2001. He went on concert tours through Europe, Japan and the USA and played Paul Hindemith's piano concerto under the direction of the composer. He had great success with performances of all of Franz Schubert's piano sonatas and he made two recordings of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier on Austrian radio . I.a. he recorded an LP with Beethoven's Diabelli Variations for Supraphon and four CDs with Hindemith's piano works for Naxos .

Petermandl is married to the university professor Monika Petermandl .
