Hans Heinrich Raff (born October 30, 1910 in Osterfeld , † May 13, 1990 in Oberhausen ) was a German long-distance and obstacle runner .

biography

Hans Raff was born in today's Oberhausen district of Osterfeld. At the German Championships in Berlin in 1936 , he won over 5000 meters. At the Olympic Games , which took place a few weeks later and were also held in Berlin, however, he faced over 3000 m obstacles . However, he could not finish his preliminary run and was eliminated.

With his participation in the Olympics, Raff ensured that athletes from Oberhausen joined VfL Oberhausen , where he was initially active as both an athlete and a coach. After the war, he and all the other athletes in the club joined the SC Rot-Weiß Oberhausen .
