Hans Rainer Maurer

H. Rainer Maurer (born March 18, 1937 in Tübingen ; † June 9, 2014 in Berlin ) was a German university professor for pharmacy.

Life

After graduating from high school in Ulm in 1956, Maurer completed a two-year pharmaceutical internship in Heidenheim . He then studied pharmacy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . As bricklayer 4 he was reciprocated in the Corps Makaria Munich in 1958 . In 1961 he passed the pharmaceutical examination. With a doctoral thesis at the Physiological-Chemical Institute, he was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In 1964/65 he was a postdoc at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. He then worked as a research assistant at the Biochemical Institute of the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. In 1974 he moved to the Max Planck Institute for Virus Research in Tübingen as a scientific assistant . Here he completed his habilitation in pharmaceutical chemistry in 1972 . The following year he followed the call of the Free University of Berlin as Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology. In more than 200 original papers , he dealt with alternatives to animal experiments and with the molecular mode of action of steroid hormones . He developed cell cultures for the in vitro detection of chemotherapeutic and immunotherapeutic agents . He organized conferences and experimental courses in the field of tissue engineering .
