Hans Sarre
Hans Joachim Sarre (born March 25, 1906 in Neubabelsberg ; † May 31, 1996 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German internist and nephrologist .
Career
Hans Sarre was the son of the art historian and museum director Friedrich Sarre and his wife Maria, geb. Humann, the daughter of the archaeologist Carl Humann . He grew up in the family's upper-class villa in Neubabelsberg and from 1914 attended the Realgymnasium in Nowawes , and from 1918 to 1924 the Viktoria-Gymnasium in Potsdam . Hans Sarre studied medicine in Berlin , Heidelberg and Freiburg im Breisgau , and received his doctorate in Freiburg in 1931 . He completed his further training a. a. with the physiologists Hermann Rein in Göttingen and Klotilde Gollwitzer-Meier at the Balneological Institute in Bad Oeynhausen . From 1934 Sarre worked at the University Clinic in Frankfurt am Main under Franz Volhard , and in 1939 he completed his habilitation .
In 1948 he followed a call to the University of Freiburg , where he converted the Medical University Polyclinic into a leading center for nephrology . His book Kidney Diseases (1958) was a standard German-language nephrological work for many years. In 1960 he was co-founder and first president of the German Society for Nephrology . He retired in 1975.
