Live and act

The house where he was born, in which he also died, is in Großpiesenham in Pramet and is now used as a museum. He grew up together with four brothers in poor circumstances because his father died early. There was no financial means for a higher education. After completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he volunteered for the Upper Austrian rifle regiment on the Italian front and returned from there in 1918. He married in 1920, was a self-employed master carpenter until he joined the warehouse cooperative in Ried im Innkreis in 1938 and raised four children. From 1922 he traveled for 15 years with the founder of the Stelzhamer Association , Hans Zötl , through Upper Austria and interpreted works by Franz Stelzhamer . Andreas Reischek won him over in 1930 to work on Austrian radio .

From 1933 he published his own works. During the mourning for his son Hans, who died in 1944, he began to work intensively with violin making and until his death he made a total of 18 instruments.

From 1946 he was a guild master of the Innviertel artists' guild.
