Hans Schleier

Hans Schleier (born January 20, 1931 in Breslau ; † April 26, 2018 in Leipzig ) was a German historian .

Veil studied 1952-1956 history in Leipzig and in 1963 at Ernst Engelberg with a thesis on Sybel and Treitschke Dr. sc.phil. PhD. The habilitation followed in 1974 with the work The Civil German Historiography of the Weimar Republic .

From 1956 to 1991 Schleier was a research assistant at the Central Institute for History of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR . He edited a work by Joachim Streisand published in 1965 .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , Schleier was part of the academic integration program and held visiting professorships and substitute professorships in Bielefeld and Düsseldorf in the winter semesters between 1990 and 1994 .

1980–2000 Schleier was a member of the office of the International Commission on the History and Theory of History at the Comité International des Sciences Historiques , then a member of the commission. In 1973 and 1990 he was an editorial member of the Jahrbuch der Geschichte and in 1982, 1991 the Storia della Storiografia (history of historiography). From 1990 he co- edited the Fundamenta Historica and from 1992 on Knowledge and Criticism. Texts and contributions to the methodology of historical and theological thought since the Enlightenment .
