Hans Treidler

Hans Treidler (born January 5, 1891 in Berlin ; † March 29, 1968 ibid) was a German classical philologist , ancient historian , historical geographer and high school teacher.

Hans Treidler attended the Bismarck-Gymnasium in Berlin-Wilmersdorf until he graduated from high school in 1909. From 1909 to 1912 he studied Classical Studies at the University of Berlin . a. Historical geography with Wilhelm Sieglin . From 1912 he studied at the University of Leipzig , where he received his doctorate in 1917 with a thesis on the historical geography of ancient Epirus (reviewers were Joseph Partsch and Johannes Kromeyer ). In 1916 he passed the first and in 1917 the second state examination for the higher teaching post at grammar schools. In 1917 he completed his seminar year at the Askanisches Gymnasium in Berlin. After the probationary year he was permanently employed in the Prussian school service on October 1, 1919.

On April 1, 1928, Treidler was given a permanent position as a teacher at the grammar school in Altdöbern . From April 1, 1934, he taught at the grammar school in Bad Freienwalde (Oder) . After the Second World War he lived again in Berlin.

Treidler published numerous articles on ancient historical geography and ethnography in the Realencyclopadie der classical antiquity as well as in the small Pauly . He paid tribute to his academic mentor Wilhelm Sieglin in an obituary (1936) and in an article on his 100th birthday (1955).
