Hans Vogelsanger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Vogelsanger (born December 3, 1883 in Beggingen , † September 22, 1964 in Rüschlikon ) was a Swiss architect. Together with Albert Maurer , he ran one of the leading architectural offices in Zurich in the 1920s and 1930s.

Vogelsanger studied at the building trade school in Stuttgart and at the university in Dresden . Since he had to earn his living during his studies, the studies were interrupted several times, in Dresden he worked with his teacher Martin Dülfer . After returning to Switzerland in 1910, he worked for the Pfister brothers until 1915 , when he and Maurer opened their own, soon-to-be-successful office in Rüschlikon in 1920.

In addition to a large number of villas, the office created, among other things, the parish hall in Wipkingen and the post office in Oerlikon.

Further career

After the death of his partner, Ernst Schwerzenbach became another partner in the office in 1939 and Albert Maurer's son of the same name in 1955. Vogelsanger left the studio at the age of 75.

During this time, the office developed further parish houses (in Rüschlikon and Höngg), the restaurant on Waid am Käferberg , the reformed church in Einsiedeln and, above all, a large number of factory and business buildings for Migros , which are spread all over Switzerland.
