Hans Voltz

Hans Voltz (born April 9, 1861 in Hanau ; † 1916 ) was a German industrial lobbyist and a Prussian member of parliament.

After the secondary school in Hanau, Voltz attended the higher trade school in Kassel and the secondary school there. He then studied natural sciences, philosophy and economics in Strasbourg and Freiburg im Breisgau . The studies were interrupted by several trips. He received his doctorate as Dr. phil.

In 1887 Voltz became general secretary of the Upper Silesian Mining and Metallurgy Association. In this function he was also the editor of the "Journal of the Oberschlesischen Berg- und Hüttenmännischen Verein". Since 1895 he was also the managing director of the eastern group of the Iron and Steel Industry Association . He was also a member of the committee of the Central Association of German Industrialists .

Politically, Voltz belonged to the National Liberal Party . He sat on the party's central executive committee between 1907 and 1911. Between 1904 and 1908 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives .

Voltz published several writings. This includes:

  • Ethics as a science with special reference to the more recent English ethics (1886).
  • Statistics of the Upper Silesian mines and metallurgical works for the years 1887 to 1902 . 16 vols. (1888-1903).
  • The mining and smelter administrations of the Upper Silesian Industrial District . (1892).
