Hans Werner Rothe (politician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Werner Rothe (born May 8, 1920 in Breslau ; † April 27, 2013 in Bremen ) was a Bremen university politician . He played a leading role as a planner in founding the University of Bremen in 1971.

In 1961 Rothe submitted the memorandum on the establishment of a university in Bremen , in which the duality of research and teaching was supplemented by a third pillar, the university as a temporary way of life. He then worked as a university curator under the Education Senator Thape until his dismissal in 1969 . Nevertheless, his idea of a campus university prevailed.

His library concept (structural central location, unity of all library facilities, position of library director) became the model for further new university libraries .
