Hantum is a village in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân in the Dutch province of Friesland . It is located northwest of Dokkum and has 405 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). Like most of the villages in the region, Hantum was built on a terp .
In Hantum there is a Romanesque church from the 12th century , a windmill built in 1880 , “De Hantumermolen” and a Buddhist meditation center with a Tibetan stupa , which Hantum has also made known nationwide .
