Haplochrois albanica is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe grass leafminer family (Elachistidae).

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 11 to 12 millimeters. The head is ocher-colored, the antennae are ringed whitish and brown. Thorax and tegulae are ocher-colored and mixed brownish in front. The forewings are shiny ocher brown and are heavily speckled with brown scales that are gray at the tip. The scaling is denser at the apex . The fringed scales are gray-brown, the hind wings are gray-brown.

In the males, the gnathos and the distal knob-shaped ends are quite large and about half as long as the tegumen . The blades are rectangular and have rounded edges. The anellus lobes are ventrally connected, shield-shaped and provided with two small spots of short and blunt spines. The saccus is slender and tapers in the middle. It's about as long as the tegumen. The aedeagus is straight and has a long and slightly curved finger-shaped apical protrusion .

In females, the apophyses are very short, strong and curved. The genital plate has a narrow, almost semicircular edge. The ductus bursae forms two loops before it joins the corpus bursae. The corpus bursae is slightly elongated. The signature is irregularly dotted above and below. It has some protrusions and is spiked.

Similar species

Haplochrois albanica is similar to Haplochrois gelechiella but differs in the ocher-brown fore wings and the darker hind wings.

distribution

Haplochrois albanica is widespread in southern Europe and has also been found locally in Central Europe in recent decades .

biology

So far nothing is known about the biology of the species. The known specimens were collected from June to August.
