Harald Bluhm

Harald Bluhm (* 1957 in Kleinmachnow ) is a German political scientist who holds the chair for political theory and the history of ideas at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg .

Life

From 1975 to 1981 he studied philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he received his doctorate in 1986 with a dissertation on the origin of the class concept by Karl Marx in Vormärz. He then became an employee and, from 1992, assistant at the chair for political theory and history of ideas ( Herfried Münkler ) at the Institute for Social Sciences at Humboldt University. From 1992 to 2009 he was editor of the journal Berliner Debatte Initial and from 1997 to 2008 he was on the board of the Political Theories and History of Ideas section of the German Association for Political Science (DVPW). He was also a researcher at the Working Group for Common Welfare and Community and the Working Group on Elites and Integration of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (BBAW).

In 2000 , Bluhm completed his habilitation at the Humboldt University with the book The Order of Order. The political philosophizing of Leo Strauss . After holding various substitute professorships at the TU Dresden , the Humboldt University and the TU Darmstadt , he has been Professor of Political Theory and History of Ideas at the Institute for Political Science and Japanese Studies at the University of Halle since 2007.

In addition to the classical history of ideas in the sense of interpretations and editions (since 2008 project leader of the Marx-Engels-Gesamtausgabe (MEGA); since 2009 in the directorate of the Interdisciplinary Center for Research on the European Enlightenment (IZEA), the research focuses on modern theories of political action and the change in shape of democracy and Civil society (member of the International Research Training Group - Form Change in Civil Society - Japan and Germany in Comparison ) .:
