In conducting, he attended master classes with Frieder Bernius , Eric Ericson , Laszlo Heltay, Peter Erdei, Eva Kollar, Wolfgang Schäfer , Max Frey and Georg Grün, among others . In addition to his lectureship as a singing and conducting teacher at several European music academies, he leads international conducting courses and workshops. He also gives conducting courses in connection with choir acoustics and voice training and is a juror at international choir and composition competitions. A special trademark is his additional qualification as a graduate physicist in combination with musicological research in musical acoustics. As a conductor, he uses the background knowledge he has acquired to improve the quality of intonation and sound, for an effective rehearsal method, to develop a work-specific interpretation and to optimize the layout of his ensembles in the rehearsal or concert situation. Numerous first prizes in international choir competitions with his choirs, CD and radio recordings, invitations to renowned music festivals and scientific awards in acoustics are proof of his professional reputation. His research work in the field of musical acoustics and room acoustics provided the scientific basis for analyzing the singing voice in the choir. As part of his research in systematic musicology on the subject of "choral acoustics", Jers received a research contract from the EU at the Royal Technical University of Stockholm . In November 2005 he received the Acoustical Society of America's first prize in musical acoustics for his research .

Together with his choir CONSONO, Jers not only achieved 1st place in the German Choir Competition in 2006 , but also won the international choir competitions in Marktoberdorf (Germany). In the following years he won in Maasmechelen (Belgium, 2007), Cork (Ireland, 2008) and in Gorizia (Italy, 2009).
