Harald Meschendörfer

Harald Meschendörfer (born June 14, 1909 in Kronstadt , Transylvania , Kingdom of Hungary ; † September 23, 1984 in Brașov , Romania ) was a Transylvanian-Saxon painter and graphic artist .

Short biography

He was the son of the writer Adolf Meschendörfer . After studying in Munich , Berlin and Paris from 1927 to 1932 , he returned to Kronstadt and worked there from 1932 as a painter and graphic artist - at times with his own studio. From 1953 to 1969 he taught there as a teacher at the Volks-Kunstschule. Between 1955 and 1968, Meschendörfer designed a total of 152 postage stamps that were issued by the Romanian post office Poșta Română .
