Harald Stefan (born September 12, 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian notary and politician of the FPÖ . From 2001 to 2008 he was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council and has been a member of the Austrian National Council since 2008 .

Life

Harald Stefan attended elementary school in Maria Enzersdorf - Südstadt from 1971 to 1975 and then graduated from the federal high school in Mödling from 1975 to 1983, which he graduated from in 1983 with the Matura. Then he did his military service ( one-year volunteer ) and became a first lieutenant in the reserve. Subsequently, Stefan studied law at the universities of Vienna and Salzburg and graduated in 1989. After his court year, he joined the notary's office of Dr. Friedrich Stefan in Vienna- Simmering and was a notary candidate until 2002. Harald Stefan has been a notary in Vienna's Inner City since 2003.

He was a member of the Olympia fraternity , which the DÖW classifies as right-wing extremists . In 2018 he resigned from the fraternity, but his resignation did not mean, as Stefan told the daily Die Presse , "that he generally turns away from the fraternities, [...] because he is still a member of a beating middle school student association".

Stefan has three children.

Political activity

During his studies, Stefan got involved with the Ring of Freedom Students , was deputy federal chairman and member of the central committee of the Austrian student body . He has been a member of the FPÖ since 1990, has worked in the Simmering district management since 1995 and was elected chairman of the district group in 1997. Between 2001 and 2008 Stefan was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council, and in 2002 he became a public relations officer for the FPÖ Vienna. In May 2006, Stefan was elected regional party chairman of the FPÖ Vienna, since 2007 he has also been the federal party chairman of the FPÖ. He has represented the FPÖ in the National Council since October 28, 2008.
