Harald Wiedmann

Harald Wiedmann (born February 15, 1945 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German manager and lawyer.

Life

After graduating from high school, Harald Wiedmann studied law at the universities of Tübingen and Munich . He completed his studies in 1969 with the first state examination. After the legal clerkship, the second state examination followed in 1972. Wiedmann earned his doctorate in 1976. jur. at the University of Munich . In 1975 Wiedmann passed the tax advisor examination and in 1978 the auditor examination.

From 1974 to 1991 he worked in various functions for the auditing company Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., most recently as Managing Partner of the Frankfurt office. In 1992 he became a member of the board of the KPMG Deutsche Treuhand-Gesellschaft AG with responsibility for Berlin and the new federal states. In 1998 he became their board spokesman , which he held until 2005. He was also a member of the Executive Committee and International Board of KPMG International from 1998 to 2005 . From 2002 to 2005 he was Chairman for Europe, Middle East and Africa. From January 2006 to June 2007, Wiedmann was President of the German Standardization Council at the German Accounting Standards Committee eV

He has been with the law firm Gleiss Lutz since 2007 . Wiedmann is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Berenberg Bank , Hamburg, and is or was a member of the Supervisory Board of Wincor Nixdorf AG , Paderborn, Praktiker Bau- und Heimwerkermärkte AG , Saarbrücken, and ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG , Munich (2007-2015), of Prime Office AG, Munich, and Merz GmbH & Co KGaA , Frankfurt. Wiedmann is currently trustee for Phoenix Pharmahandel GmbH & Co KG , Mannheim, which belongs to the Merckle Group .

Wiedmann has been honorary professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University since 1995 and at the Technical University of Berlin since 1999 .
