Haris Epaminonda (* 1980 in Nicosia ) is a Cypriot photographer , video artist and multimedia artist who lives and works in Berlin .

life and work

Haris Epaminonda studied at the Royal College of Art and Kingston University in London and graduated in 2003. In 2001 she met Daniel Gustav Cramer (* 1975). Epaminonda and Cramer have been working on the Infinite Library joint project since 2007. They have exhibited together several times, including a. 2012 in the Kunsthalle Lisbon and at the dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel.

Haris Epaminonda's work includes collages , groups of sculptures, films and photographs. Initially, Epaminondas mainly processed photographic images from French magazines and books from the 1940s to 1960s. From 2005 onwards, mainly black and white collages were created from images of people and architecture. In 2007 she concentrated on color illustrations and colored paper. Unconventional image compositions are created by photographing the found photographic material, for example in the Polaroid series (2008–2009). Epaminonda makes films with a Super8 camera, which are then digitally edited. This creates film loops of different lengths.

Today her work focuses on collages, multi-layered room installations that result from the combination of images, films, photographs, sculptures and found objects. The room installations provide orientation for the visitor, but can also become a maze of paths, which fixes the audience on a certain path.
